  17. bare-bones compiler + manual is about US $20; the debugger is another
  18. $20.  Both are well worth the price.

  25. Power C has several advantages over GNU C:
  26. . Phone support.  Call 1-214-783-6001 and talk to the chap that wrote
  27.   the compiler.  He's friendly, fast, helpful, and costs nothing.
  28. . The Power C Trace Debugger is several orders of magnitude better than
  29.   gdb. (But then, IMO a hard copy of a core dump is better than gdb).
  30. . Power C is fairly small, and will run on some smaller systems where
  31.   GNU C won't fit.
  32. . As a C reference, the manual alone is worth the price of the compiler.
